Aviation Strategies International signs training
contract that will bring to Montreal and Vancouver a
group of 50 airport executives.

MAY 12, 2005 - MONTREAL – Aviation Strategies
International (www.aviationstrategies.aero) announced
today the signature of a contract with the Southwest
Region of the Civil Aviation Administration of China
(CAAC) for the provision of professional training programs
to be held in Montreal (Quebec) and Vancouver (British
Columbia) in June and November 2005. These programs
will address questions such as the Canadian legal and
policy framework within the aviation industry, the liberalization
of ownership and administration of airports, as well
as the key bilateral issues for the establishment of
successful strategic partnerships between Canadian and
Chinese aviation sector enterprises. The programs will
be supplemented by industrial visits where Chinese visitors
will be briefed on some of the expertise of Canada’s
aviation industry. As per this agreement, a total of
50 Chinese airport executives are expected to travel
to Canada this year.
According to the Chinese Research Council in Aviation
Industry Development, Chinese airlines will purchase
over 1000 regional jets (30-120 seats) in the next 12
years for a total of 2200 new aircraft in the next 20
years. The Council also foresees that 50 new airports
will be built within the next 4 years, and that 120
new airports should be in operation before 2015.
Southwest CAAC currently regulates 24 airports in Southwest
China located in the Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, and
Yunnan provinces as well as in the Tibet autonomous
region. By the end of 2010, the Administration anticipates
that number of airports in the Southwest region will
grow to 48, through the completion of various construction
projects planned or already undertaken.
