Dr.
Haeck is an ASI associate. Until recently, he was one
of the senior legal advisors with the International
Air Transport Association (IATA). He holds a doctorate
of law from McGill University and a MBA from University
of Sherbrooke. He is a member of the International Academy
of Astronautic in the social science committee and also
a member of the Quebec Board of Notaries (solicitors)
with the law firm Le Francois & Haeck. Dr. Haeck
currently holds the position of associate professor
at the Royal Military College (RMC) and at the École
Polytechnique at Université de Montréal,
where he teaches several courses on aerospace topics.
He is also a visiting professor at several university
campuses in Europe and North America including the International
Aviation MBA Program at Concordia University in Montreal.
He is a member of the law faculty of IATA’ s
Aviation Training Development Institute and has taught
in several countries around the world.
Dr. Heack has had more than 25 years of professional experience in different positions with two Canadian airlines, private law firms, member of the diplomatic corps, academic senior researcher, senior officer with the Canadian Forces as well as in the position of Assistant Director Administration of IATA in charge of corporate risk management of the association in more than 80 countries and providing advises to member airlines.
Dr. Haeck has published more than 50 academic articles in major professional
revues/journals in Europe and North America, several
book chapters and also book critiques in several publications.
He is a member of the editorial board of the review
Les assurances et la gestion des risques of HEC (Hautes
Etudes Commerciales) at Université de Montréal.
He is an external examiner for master theses at McGill
University and the Royal Military College of Canada.
He received several awards and decorations including
several scholarships like the NATO fellowship, and the
post- doctoral fellowship of the Canadian Department
of National Defense.
