JUNE 2, 2010 – MONTREAL – Aviation Strategies International (ASI), a global provider of corporate-level strategic consulting services in the field of civil aviation, announced today that it has hired Mr. Wasim Zaidi to assume the role of Director, Corporate Services at its Montreal headquarters.
In speaking about this international recruitment, Dr. Pierre Coutu, President and CEO of ASI, stated, “The appointment of Mr. Zaidi will bring distinctive value to the company’s resources especially through his specialization in aviation law combined with his comprehension of the global and Indian aviation sector in particular.”
Mr. Zaidi joins the ASI team from Jet Airways, a major Indian airline based in Mumbai, where he worked as an assistant manager in the Legal Department managing several portfolios such as aircraft leasing, litigation, contracts, and labor-related proceedings. He also performed due diligence for the company’s real estate acquisitions and prepared legal opinions on air law queries for senior management.
In assuming his position at ASI, Mr. Zaidi will assist the ASI President in key areas with responsibilities for managing special ASI projects alongside a multi-disciplinary team to develop business proposals, negotiate and manage a number of partnerships, service contracts, and agreements while formulating and implementing the strategic corporate positioning of the company.
Remarking on his new function, Mr. Zaidi said, “This position gives me an excellent opportunity to bring my legal and managerial know-how to the ASI Corporate Services division with a view to fortifying and providing impetus to the ASI’s positioning as a leading global provider of aviation consulting services.”
Mr. Zaidi holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree (1st class division), from Symbiosis Society’s Law College (Symbiosis International University) in Pune, India. He also holds a Masters in Law (LL.M) in Air and Space Law, from the Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) at McGill University in Montreal.
