ASI WINS A CONTRACT FROM THE CANADIAN AIR TRANSPORT SECURITY AUTHORITY


DECEMBER 9, 2005 - MONTREAL – The President of Aviation Strategies International, Dr. Pierre Coutu, has announced today that his firm has been chosen to provide the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) with technical assistance for the planning, organization and conduct of an international workshop on the future of security screening in air transportation to be held in Ottawa in January 2006.

Dr. Coutu remarked, “I am very pleased that the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority has chosen Aviation Strategies International and our partner, the MITRE Corporation, to manage this challenging project. Only four years since its creation, CATSA has already positioned itself as one of the world’s most dynamic and proactive agency of its kind”. He added, “We are looking forward to our new collaboration with CATSA to bring to life the first international conference involving government, technology, operations and academia to increase airport security worldwide”.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) was created as part of a comprehensive, $2.2 billion package for air security contained in the Government of Canada’s 2001 budget. CATSA came into force on April 1, 2002. The Crown Corporation is based in Ottawa. Its mission is to protect the public by securing critical elements of the air transportation system as assigned by the government.
